Fiji – Tokoriki Island – a dream destination

We’ve spent 5 days/4 nights in Tokoriki Island in Fiji, as part of our honeymoon trip and it couldn’t have been better.
I always wanted to visit Fiji since I was little, but considering it’s too far, I always knew that I could only visit Fiji if I go to Australia first or other country nearby; and that was exactly what we did, we traveled to Australia for our honeymoon and included Fiji in the pack.
Since the trip was organized by us, without any help from travel agencies, we had to investigate everything. We started by identifying the nicest islands, we didn’t want to stay in main island Nadi, so we had to dig deeper and look for recommendations from other travelers.
For us it was important to find a beautiful island and a very good hotel with great reviews, after all we don’t visit Fiji every day.
We choosen Hotel Sheraton Tokoriki as it’s a world famous luxury chain and the hotel had opened the same year after huge renovations. One of the reasons why we also choose Sheraton is because they have also another hotel in Nadi so when we arrived to the airport, Sheraton organized the shuttle for us from the aiport to the hotel, were we had lunch and relaxed near the pool until the bus that would take us to the boat arrived. We did exactly the same when we left Tokoriki, stayed in Sheraton Nadi to have lunch and spend time in the pool, until shuttle to the airport arrived.
To go to Tokoriki Island we had to take a boat, the trip lengh was about one hour and a half since Tokoriki Island is one of the most isolated ones, but when we arrived there, we felt inmediately that we were in paradise.
The hotel is beautiful and the staff is very nice. They always sang typical songs from Fiji, being BULA my favorite one.
We had such amazing sunny days on the beach, doing water sports such as paddle surf, snorkling and diving and spent relaxed afternoons in the pool.
The nights were also amazing, warm, quite, and with great environment as Fijian musicians sang lots of songs for us. The food was actually a surprise as it was so good that we couldn’t really believe that in the middle of noware we’re actually eating like in a michelin star restaurant.
One of the recommendations is to buy the full meal plan with Sheraton Tokoriki, this way you forget about your expenses and fully enjoy your stay. Let’s be clear, Fiji is not a cheap destination, but you must know this before you ever consider going there, so yes, meal plan is not cheap but it’s worth it as food is very good there and you don’t have anywhere to go actually so you end-up eating in the hotel and paying for every meal if you don’t choose the full meal plan.
These holidays were in fact fantastic but better than words is to show you some pictures we took while there 🙂
